Abstract
The challenge for the modern health care system is to fight against the increasing prevalence of atopic disease. The introduction of scientifically composed probiotic functional foods for prophylactic or therapeutic purposes could be one solution. Probiotics are live microbial food supplements or components of bacteria which have beneficial effects on human health. Specific strains have been demonstrated to exert powerful anti-pathogenic, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects. The hygiene hypothesis suggests that atopic disease may arise from a lack of counterbalancing microbial exposure at an early age. The initial compositional development of the gut microflora is considered a key determinant of the development of both the immune responder phenotype and normal gut barrier functions. The regulatory role of probiotics in human allergic disease was first emphasised in the demonstration of a suppressive effect on lymphocyte proliferation and interleukin-4 generation in vitro. Subsequently, a significant improvement in the clinical course of atopic eczema was reported in infants given a probiotic-supplemented diet. The potential of probiotics to reduce the risk of atopic disease has recently been demonstrated in a double-blind, placebo-controlled study: probiotics administered pre- and postnatally for 6 months to at-risk subjects reduced the prevalence of atopic eczema to half of that observed in infants receiving placebo. Ongoing research is directed towards the development of novel techniques to characterise the gut microflora. Future research will clarify the mechanisms to control specific physiological processes in the evolution of atopic disease in at-risk populations or in the management of allergic diseases. 초록
현대의학 시스템에서의 도전은 늘어나는 아토피 질환에 대한 치료방법을 개발하는 것이다.
아토피를 예방하고 치료할 목적으로 과학적으로 구성된 프로바이오틱 음식을 소개하는 것도 하나의 해결책이다. 프로바이오틱은 살아있는 미세생균 음식 보조물이거나 인간의 건강에 이로운 작용을 하는 박테리아의 성분이다. 특정한 종류들은 아주 강력한 항병원성, 항염증성, 항알러지성 작용을 나타낸다고 알려져 있다. 아토피성 피부염은 어린시기에 그와 상반되는 작용을 하는 미세생균이 결핍되어 나타난다는 가설이 있다. 장내벽의 미세성분의 처음의 구성성분의 변화가 면역질환 반응의 페노타입과 정상 장내벽의 발전에 대한 키와 같은 역할을 한다고 생각되어진다. 사람의 알러지성 질환에서 프로바이오틱의 조절하는 역할은 실험실상에서 프로바이오틱스의 림파구의 증식과 인터루킨-4(IL-4)의 생성에 대한 억제효과가 있다고 증명된 이후에 처음으로 강조되었다. 이어서 어린시기에 아토피가 있는 아이들에게 프로바이오틱을 먹인 이후에 상당한 치료효과가 있는 것으로 보고되면서 관심이 더욱 발전되었다. 그리고 프로바이오틱스의 아토피 질환을 일으키는 위험을 억제하는 효과는 이중 맹검검사를 통해서 플라시보, 콘트롤을 정한 실험에서 증명되어졌다. 아토피가 발병할 위험이 있는 출생전후의 어린 아이들에게 6개월 동안 프로바이오틱을 먹인 아이들은 다른 것을 먹이고 프로바이오틱을 먹이지 않은 아이들에 비하여 절반정도 아토피가 덜 발생하는것으로 나타났다. 현재 연구중인 것은 장내벽의 microflora를 특징지을수 있는 새로운 테크닉을 개발하는데 집중하고 있다. 미래의 연구 테마는 아토피나 알러지 질환을 유발하는 인자나 기전들을 억제할수 있는 기전을 확실하게 하는데 있다.

probiotic이란 말은 pro(촉진하는..) biotic(생명체)의 합성어로..
생명에 이로운 어떤것들..이렇게 해석할수 있는 데요..
주로 장내에 존재하는 우리몸에 이롭게 작용하는 미생균을 probiotics라고 이야기 합니다.
이 균들은 장내에서 나쁜균들은 죽이면서 동시에 소화를 촉진하고, 정장의 역할을 합니다.
그리고 칼슘의 흡수를 돕고, 면역조절작용이 있어서 항알레르기 효과가 있다고 알려져 있습니다.
우리가 잘 아는 항생제는 anti(반대되는) biotics(생명체)라고 하며 생명체를 죽이는 어떤것...
이란 뜻입니다. 항생제는 우리몸에 해로운 균만 죽이는것이 아니고 더불어 이로운 균들도 같이 죽입니다.
현대에 알레르기 질환이 늘어나는 이유중에 하나가 바로 이런 장내 이로운균들이 항생제에 의해서 많이 죽거나 장내에 부족하게 되어 나타난다는 이론을 펼치는 사람들이 늘고 있습니다.
따라서 이런 항생제의 남용을 줄이고 장내에 이로운 균들을 많이 자라도록 해주는것이 필요합니다.
그래서 유산균이나 발효식품을 많이 먹어주는것이 좋습니다.
다음번엔...유산균으로 아토피의 치료효과나 예방효과에 대해서 임상실험했던 논문을 하나 올려보겠습니다.
